This item is a small wooden "hornbook" with a piece of paper overlaid with the alphabet printed on it, with plastic covering the paper. The back has two cards designating the names of people the item was printed for: Beatrice Ward and Roy Stokes.

This collection contains material created by and for the Battledore Press which was run by Mary and Andrew (Andy) Horn. Items are mostly printed ephemera including invitations, announcements, cards, bookplates, and certificates for various events. They include UCLA library-related gatherings, advertisements for businesses, Christmas and other holiday cards, prints of quotations and other short pieces of literature.
