Biographical / Historical
Moxon Chappel was established by a group of private printers around the San Francisco Bay Area. Named after Joseph Moxon, who printed the first book regarding printing craft in 1683, Mechanick Exercises. The group was founded with the purpose of sharing their craft with others, for the mutual interest and enjoyment of printing. They would meet annually, more frequently during their more active years to submit work, socialize, and critique each other’s work.
