Scope and Contents

This collections consists of Anthony L. Lehman's research material and Paul Landacre collection, which was used as source material for his 1983 book, Paul Landacre: A Life and a Legacy. Materials include Lehman's handwritten notes on interviews and reference material, original artwork and prints by Paul Landacre, price lists and inventories of Landacre's work, typescripts and drafts of Lehman's book, as well as news clippings and published versions of Landacre art.

Biographical / Historical

Anthony Lewis Lehman was born in Los Angeles in 1935, and studied American and English literature at Pomona College (B.A., 1959) and Claremont Graduate University (M.A., 1964). He taught English literature at Chaffey High School in Ontario, CA from 1961 until his death in 1988. He wrote several books, including Birthright of Barbed Wire: The Santa Anita Assembly Center for the Japanese (1970), By Buckboard to Beatty (1970), and Paul Landacre: A Life and a Legacy (1983), and was active in the Los Angeles Corral of Westerners, as well as serving as a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Mounted Posse.

He died October 25, 1988 in Fontana, CA.
