Scope and Contents
This item is a small bound volume with blue paper binding. There is a note inserted from Rene Hague stating that the text “is a translation by Eric Gill of the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as recited by Dominican Teriaries. The translation was completed shortly before Eric Gill’s death (1940); the type was set, but never printed (the printers having ceased business during the war); after the war the type was distributed. The printers were Hague & Gill (Pigotts, High Holcombe, Berks). (Signed) Rene Hague, 2 May 1958.” note by Rene Hague on translation. Text is heavily corrected and revised throughout in Gill’s hand. Type was set by Hague on 48 small 4 degree pages, with text. Titled in Gill’s hand and with his notes. Holograph verses by Gill are incorporated in the text. *Not photographed
