The series primarily contains letters relating to the Craufurdland Cause, the legal process that reversed John Craufurd's deathbed settlement of his estate upon his friend Thomas Coutts. Primary correspondents include James Houison Moody Craufurd, James Beveridge, and a Mr. Ferguson. Also included in this series are two letters written by the granddaughter of James Houison Moody Craufurd and Elizabeth Houison Craufurd in 1831.
