An order to pay and a signed autograph letter pasted onto a folded leaf of paper. Notes in a nineteenth-century hand provide biographical information about the Eglinton lineage. The Earldom of Eglinton is part of the Scottish Peerage. The Earl of Eglinton is also the chief of Clan Montgomerie. The documents in this folder pertain to Alexander, 10th Earl of Eglinton and Archibald, 11th Earl of Eglinton. In the letter, Archibald seeks support for his candidacy for the Scottish Representative Peerage.
