For the Benefit of Mr. Giardini, circa 1780
Scope and Contents
This collection contains engraved tickets created from the mid-18th to early-19th century for a variety of music, dance, and social events in London and elsewhere in Britain. Many of the engravings were done by Francesco Bartolozzi (1727-1815), an Italian engraver active in London primarily in the 18th century. The bulk of Bartolozzi’s engravings in this collection are of artwork by Giovanni Battista Cipriani (1727-1785), another 18th century Italian artisti. The tickets are for various events including concerts, benefits, lectures, and dinner parties.
