Contents

Notebook containing a sort of diary written by Popkin in 1979 while he was writing “the book”. Although he published a re-edition of his work on Skepticism that year, it probably was his book about La Peyrère as there are many references about him in the notes. Also it should be considered that the book about La Peyrère was a project that took Popkin many years to finish and that could probably be related with the many references to difficulties and depression found in these notes. In relation to this period of his life see: Popkin, R. H. (1988): “Intellectual autobiography: warts and all”. In The Sceptical Mode in Modern Philosphy. Essays in Honor of Richard H. Popkin (R. A. Watson and J. E. force eds.), Dordrecht: Martinus Nijhoff Publishers, 103-149.
