A dealer in rare and antiquarian books, manuscripts and fine art, the Rosenbach Company was established in 1903 in Philadelphia by Dr. A.S.W. (Abraham Simon Wolf) Rosenbach (1876-1952) and his brother Philip Rosenbach (1863-1953). The company was dissolved in 1953 after Philip's death. They played a "central role" in the development of what would become the Folger and Huntington Libraries. The Rosenbach Museum and Library was founded in Philadelphia in 1954, using the Rosenbach brothers' personal collection as its core.
